Day 10 September 5, 2023 9.5 Hours

From 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM Mike Malo, Grady, Noah, and I had our morning debrief going into this next week. Myself and the other two interns Grady and Noah voiced some concerns to Mike about the current system in place for the course scheduling program. HJGT has stressed of trying to get 60 calls every single day, but at the same time we are not assigned enough areas and courses that respond with interest to get to 60 calls a day. As they do not want us to leave a voicemail and email the course but once a week, but to reach the call volume we have to call the same courses everyday and annoy them. It did not seem that Mike understood where we were coming from. All of the interns agree that the policy is contradictory to the standard they want. They need to either add additional areas for us to connect with our expect a decrease in call volume as I have now been calling the same courses every single day for the past three-four days. With each day of trying to connect my potential call list decreases from not being interested and saying no to potentially hosting the events. From 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM I made 48 calls. I was able to get a contract offer for Mill Creek for the June 8-9 event in Raleigh, North Carolina. I followed the guidelines from the handbook that he printed out for me when logging the offer. Then got a comment that I need to add more information even though it was not in the original handbook. It seems like they were not too receptive of taking input from the interns today. After talking with Grady, we both feel like this is a company that just exploits interns that take advantage of the need for college credit. Both of us are looking for long term employment options elsewhere and hopefully the sooner the better.
