From 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM we might with the president of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Sara Even. During this time, we went over the company’s policy and procedures, as well as going through the process of signing paperwork through docusign. The docusign paperwork highlighted aspects such as the workplace expectations, general information, HJGT mission statement, keys to success and dress code among other aspects. The mission statement is as follows “Believing in all junior golfers, pioneering with innovation & executing with class”. The keys to success include preparing for tomorrow before you leave for the night, practice makes perfect, know your product, explain features but sell benefits, customer service, don’t make promises you can’t or don’t intend to keep, and know the competition. From 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM we went to a team member lunch at CAVA. From 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM we were doing individual conversations to cover the different internship roles again and confirm that we were in the correct roles. Within my conversation the role that was confirmed was course scheduling intern with Sara Even. Also, during that conversation I mentioned my educational background and highlighted how I was interested in how HJGT is expanding into the global markets like they just did with China. After this conversation I meet with my immediate boss Mike Malo from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM who oversees myself and two other course scheduling interns. During this time, we briefly discussed more of the role and daily tasks as well as getting to know each other and work histories a little more. One of the main tasks within the role is to talk with golf courses throughout the United States trying to negotiate contracts to host tour events at their courses at desired dates. The expected call rate within the role is 60 calls a day. After this conversation he mentioned that we would be going more in depth for the role as well as meeting the other two course scheduling interns. Also, during this time I discovered they tried to force me to resign my contract to force me to stay till December so another reason I did not sign the paperwork. I also mentioned that when I originally agreed to the in-person position, I had housing in Orlando but that changed when the company said that all the roles were becoming remote. Now they expect me to stay in Orlando, but I talked with Mike and Sarah and said to them both I will need to be in a remote position going forward as after the organization stated my role was remote, I lost my housing option that was present during the original agreement. They were not happy but agreed as they had no other choice.
